Janet Seehausen brings a deep well of real‑world experience and long‑standing market familiarity to her role as a Relocation Consultant. Prior to entering the real estate profession, Janet developed extensive practical knowledge through her own personal residential purchases and long‑term property ownership.
Together with her husband, she invested in residential rental properties in Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Florida, as well as two commercial properties in Chicago’s West Loop. These hands‑on transactions provided Janet with a strong foundation and first‑hand understanding of property ownership, decision‑making, and the many considerations involved in buying, selling, and managing real estate.
Earlier in her career, Janet worked in the Chicago real estate industry, participating in condominium conversion projects and resale activity across a wide range of city neighborhoods. Over the years, she supported buyers, sellers, landlords, and renters as they navigated different stages of housing and relocation. This experience gave her an in‑depth appreciation for neighborhood dynamics, housing styles, and market variations throughout Chicago.
Janet’s areas of long‑standing knowledge include the New East Side—particularly residences such as The Chandler and Park Shore—where she has been a neighbor, owner, investor, and landlord. She is also well versed in River North and along the Magnificent Mile. Her connection to these communities extends beyond housing, shaped by years of living, investing, and staying engaged with local changes and development.
With an ongoing interest in new construction, interior design, and home improvement, Janet enjoys keeping up with trends that influence how people live in and adapt their spaces. She has a practiced eye for envisioning how interiors can be reimagined—from modest design updates to more complex renovations—to better support different lifestyles.
Outside of her professional background, Janet enjoys live theatre, art exhibitions, tending to her houseplants, and the daily companionship of her Quaker parrot, Sprite, and her canary, Solo.
Janet has also been closely connected to the real estate industry through her husband, Ted Sveda, who has spent more than 25 years working as a REALTOR® and broker with Urban. His career was an early influence on Janet’s professional path and served as a valuable resource throughout her years in real estate. (He is also known for making an excellent Cosmopolitan.)
