To many around town, Lynn Brahin is well-respected for her career as an attorney, while others know her best for her passion as a local leader, community voice, and go-to for all things New Eastside. Ms. Brahin is again following her passion and creating yet another brand for herself, now as a licensed Illinois real estate broker, and proudly serving clients as a REALTOR® at Urban Real Estate.
Lynn is particularly seasoned in the inner workings of many local condominium association structures, and financial and board matters. For more than 30 years, Lynn has called the New Eastside home. She moved into the community from Madison, Wisconsin, to pursue graduate studies. The Outer Drive East at 400 E. Randolph became the first Chicago home for Lynn as a renter, owner, neighbor, and now an investor.
For about 20 years, Lynn and her husband, Louis, have resided at The Buckingham, where she served on various board committees. Before that, Lynn also represented the neighborhood through the New Eastside Association of Residents. With her neighbors, she helped shape the conversation between the then-existing community and diverse stakeholders by providing a forum for the creation of many of the area's newer spaces including the Bloch Cancer Survivors' Garden, Millennium Park, the Pritzker Pavillion, and the Lakeshore East Development. Lynn has also offered her experience when asked to participate in the Grant Park Master Plan and Genesis Community Task Force, which led to Grant Park improvements and Navy Pier Flyover.
In her legal career, Ms. Brahin acts as an arbitrator and hearing officer. Her practice involves fact-finding and data determinations, presiding over financial, discipline, employment, and personal injury matters. Her love of the New Eastside, paired with her vast legal experience as a strong, smart negotiator, makes her an invaluable partner to clients in this special city.
Serving clients in this new role will allow Lynn an added gratitude of helping others in her community to either sell right or buy strategically, a thrill she is most excited about. Her enthusiasm for easy access to world-class renowned arts and cultural amenities coupled with Chicago’s thriving parks, lakefront, and riverwalk improvements, is contagious.
In her quest to specialize further in offering premier real estate services, Lynn recently completed the National Association of REALTORS coveted certificated programs e-pro, At Home With Diversity (AHWD), and Commitment to Excellence (C2EX).
Ms. Brahin was recently reappointed to the Chicago Association of REALTORS Professional Standards Committee. Since its inception in 2020, Lynn has served on the Chicago Association of Realtors “The 77” as the Central Region representative in Chicago. As the Loop Diversity representative, she serves this unique neighborhood in the heart of the Central Business District. She serves the community as a resource, advocates for fair housing and development issues, and further support local Realtors.
Of all her titles, Ms. Brahin is most proud as a mom to her children, Lenny and Lizzy, both Chicago Public Schools graduates of Walter Payton College Prep High School. Born and raised 100% urban, they are still learning with Lenny, at DePaul Law School, and Lizzy, at Harvard College.
