The North Side neighborhood of Roscoe Village is best known for its long stretch of quaint shops that line Roscoe Street between Damen and Western Avenues. Popular also area a wide variety of restaurants as well as small businesses. Its housing stock is predominantly single family and small multi-unit buildings, with easy access to the Brown Line L.
Roscoe Street is the defining center of the neighborhood. Between Damen and Western is a community business district that includes coffee shops, restaurants such as bistros, Latin cuisine, a southeast Asian brunch spot and many others, together with taverns like Riverview (taking its name from the lost and lamented nearby amusement park) and Village Tap.
Roscoe also has a variety of small boutiques including music shops and bookstores. This central feature of Roscoe Village also offers easy access to main arterial streets like Western Avenue and Addison Street for drivers while still being close to good public transit options.
Nearby homes range from small rentals such as two and three flat buildings, but predominantly single family homes have been the defining housing type in Roscoe Village in recent years.
