Downtown Condo Values Nearly Recovered

Downtown Condo Values Nearly Recovered While some segments of the housing market continue to struggle clawing back value lost post-2007, the condominium market in downtown Chicago has climbed back to its 2008 level, off their peak value by only 2.1 percent.

Crain's Chicago Business recently reported that a survey of 65 large downtown buildings found that resales prices were very close to their 2008 peak, within 4.3 percent and that those in the Loop, specifically, were off just 2/1 percent.

Condo prices across the metro area have a bit further to go. Crain's reported that those prices were still down 19 percent from their peak.
