Will The Chicago Spire Rise? The long-stalled Chicago Spire project continues to inch out of its problems.

Various media outlets reported yesterday that Irish Developer Garrett Kelleher and his partner Atlas Holdings had secured a new investor from New York that would help fund payments needed for the project to emerge from bankruptcy and the bankruptcy judge has approved the plan.

The residential project, if constructed, would be the largest in North America. Work on the site stopped during the economic slow-down after foundation work was begun in 2008. If it emerges from bankruptcy and resumes, it could rise to a height of 2,000 feet with 150 floors.
