Does Remodeling Pay Off?

Does Remodeling Pay Off? If you're planning on putting your home on the market soon you might not want to do any major remodeling.

Remodeling Magazine recently compiled its annual report on costs versus value with the help of professional real estate brokers and, compared with a  year ago, 17 projects nationally increased perceived value while 18 others resulted in a net loss. If you factor in the cost of the labor then only five were cost-effective.

So while you might want a new kitchen island or heated floors, if you're thinking of selling in the near to mid future you should probably stick with:

• Roof Replacement

• A New Garage Door

• Steel Entry Doors

• New Vinyl Siding

• Fiberglass Entry Doors

Of course, if you're planning to stay and enjoy the property, then go for it. Just don't expect to see that money all added to the bottom line value of the house when the time comes for a sale.
