Monday Real Estate Round-up
The Chicago Association of Realtors recently released the top selling neighborhoods and suburbs for December 2014 and there are some familiar names topping the list.

For city neighborhoods, leading were the Near North Side with 184 sales, West Town with 113 sales and Lincoln Park with 109 sales.

In the suburbs, leading were Aurora with 158 sales, Joliet with 151 sales and Naperville with 145 sales.

But while we still have good activity in real estate values, the area's inventory continues to decline.

Chicago Agent Magazine reports that area's inventory has continued to drop and, as a result, continues to put pressure on total sales volume and selling price for top tier properties. Inventory has declined a total of 21 percent over 2013.

They predict that inventory will continue to decline as a result of three factors: low equity, locked-in low rates, company or investor ownership and many owners have purchased or refinanced in the last seven years.

We can't possibly close this round-up with a reference to the fact that the entire city is basically on a snow day today, having endured the fifth-largest snowfall in the city's history.

While we're all living it and media outlets are covering it ad naseum, Curbed has accumulated a fun set of instagram photos from around the city.
