
The survey, which examined rents in 29 city neighborhoods showed that the Near North Side had the highest rent at $2,140 for a one bedroom and that Grand Crossing was the least expensive at $680.
Median rent for a two bedroom apartment was $2,370. Year over year, rents were up 5.4 percent in February, but taken on a quarter by quarter basis they're down slightly, by about 1 percent.
Chicago ranked seventh in the nation for the most expensive rents.
