
Chicago vaulted ahead of Seattle and Los Angeles last month, with a total of $507 million in new construction. It was only $274 million in March of 2014.
Chicago still trails four other cities, all in the south. Houston, Dallas, Atlanta and Miami in order.

A new tower is being proposed for an old site, in Streeterville at the corner of Illinois and Park Streets.
The development, from Chicago-based Jupiter Realty, will include 444 residential units just north of the new Loews Hotel but renderings have not yet been unveiled.
Another proposal for the site languished following the economic downturn in 2008. They're hoping to break ground in early 2016.

A proposed new tower in the Gold Coast is poised to move forward following a reduction in height and unit count.
The tower, once known as the "Tower of Jewel," has now been renamed "The Sinclair" and will now be 35 stories instead of 42 stories.
In addition to its residential component, it will seek LEED certification, have almost 30,000 square feet in two green roofs and a Jewel grocery on the first floor. They're hoping to begin leasing in 2016.
