Monday Real Estate Round-up

Monday Real Estate Round-up Chicago's next great public space officially opened over the weekend.

The 606, a connected series of parks with the overhead rails-to-trails project known as the Bloomingdale Trail, will connect diverse neighborhoods from Logan Square and Humboldt Park to Wicker Park and Bucktown.

Running along an abandoned railroad bed along Bloomingdale Avenue, the trail has caused new interest in housing and in real estate development along its entire length.

If you'd like to do a little window shopping before calling us, Curbed Chicago recently compiled a list of some of the buildings in the city that have the great amenities.

The list of eight buildings covers downtown, the West Loop and Streeterville.
Check it out here.

The relationship between landlords and tenants is a complicated one and in Chicago the Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance governs those relationships.

Curbed Chicago has a great post out that breaks down the misconceptions about renters' rights and their obligations (and for landlords, too).

They cover security deposits, move-in fees, rules governing the payment of rent and more.

The full post is here.

It's a big month for construction in Chicago with two new skyscrapers breaking ground.

The first to break ground is 833 N. Clark.  Set for the northeast corner of Clark and Chicago, the tower will rise 380-feet and include luxury apartments and retail. At the corner, the landmark former Cosmopolitan State Bank will be restored and retained.

The building's 34 floors will include 392 residences.
