Chicago Home Price Rise Among Nation's Highest

Chicago's home price increases have trailed the nation in the last year, but according to the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, last month prices in the area increased at a level higher than almost every other market in the nation.

From June to July, prices in the metro area rose .9 percent, ahead of the average of .7 percent and only trailing Portland's 1.2 percent increase. Year-over-year, the area increased at 3.7 percent.
